Now you might be surprised, but I have come close to throwing a few fucks around and slating a few people off in my time about them or their companies in a blog. Good job I never!
Whilst wasting away the last twenty odd Winters I still have on this planet, I came across this story of a blogger who did just that. Who confidently denigrated an American investment firm on information obtained from an inside source; calling the head honcho "liar" amongst other nasty words and accusations...
And? You might say. Well US District Court Judge, Marco Hernandez, said Crystal Cox - nice name - wasn't entitled to the protections afforded to 'real' journalists when she refused to disclose her 'insider' and gave her a $2.5m fine in damages - Ouch!
The debate: Should bloggers be afforded the same protection as someone "Affiliated" with a periodical, news agency or other, working as a professional journalist in regard to disclosure of sources?
