Centre for Journalism: The Movie

By Ian Reeves - Posted on 31 July 2009

The blockbuster movie of the summer gets its eagerly-anticipated premiere today. Directed by Bafta-winner Richard Pendry, it contains all the elements you would expect from the Centre for Journalism stable:  a stellar cast; superb production values; a brilliant script; heart-stopping action; thrilling drama; and, of course, tender romance.

Cameron Diaz stars as Laura Hartmann, Matt Damon plays Alan McGuinness, and Angeline Jolie is Kelsey Williams, while Tom Cruise takes on the challenging role of John Saunders. Watch out, too, for the cameo performance in the radio booth by Gwyneth Paltrow as Rebekah Floyd. You should also be able to spot several other Oscar-nominated Hollywood legends in the dramatic newsroom sequences. Note any sightings in the comments below.

Critical reaction is already promising. "A tour de force," raved Sky News. "Better than Bond," said the Times. "A magical journey," gushed the New Yorker.

Enjoy.

Awesome! =D

Very well put together, nice work Richard.

Ian, everytime I hear the words Matt Damon Team America always pops into my head. I was told I looked like Pierce Brosnan once. You won't be at all surprised to know that the guy who said it was very very drunk.

The cinematic principles of early documentary realism meet the humanity of sixties west-coast film-it-yourself. Sincere applause all round. If any third year projects reach this standard I shall be overjoyed.

Very impressive. Also spotted a scruffy looking Joe Cole in the number 10 Chelsea shirt making a late substitute appearance, wafting around in the background :S.

It's certainly better than the Bonds with Timothy Dalton in IMO, I agree with the Times ;).

Nice soundtrack btw :D, just a shame I didn't get to *cough* compose it on the *cough* keyboard haha ;).

I hasten to point out that absolutely no credit is due to me. (Unless you count driving the car in such a brilliantly steady way for the shots of Rochester Cathedral). All kudos must go to Richard for shooting and directing - and to his mate Antonio, who did such a fine editing job.

:S Strange that I completely mis-read the text above and did not read that it said shot and directed by Richard Pendry, haha whoops. Well apologies to Richard and well done, a very good job.
