Neil Arun didn’t want to miss a rare but risky opportunity to embed with an Iraqi police unit, hunting members of al Qaeda. But his employers -- responsible for Neil’s security -- weren’t happy. This film by Richard Pendry nvestigates how a frontline journalist balances risk and reward.
It sounded somewhat strange to me when I read that the LA Times were interested in an debate happening at the University of Kent. Then as the story began to unravel, it turned out that an ex-UKC student was now an editor at the LA Times and his next editorial piece was on the same subject as the debate - beauty pageants. He was hoping to get a transcript or a video of the event to show to readers. At this point my head started spinning - I'm a bit of a fan of the LA Times and their multimedia section.
So I have, perhaps foolishly, said that the CfJ will film the event. I realise we're already jam-packed with deadlines, but does anyone want to come with me? It's happening Wednesday evening. Any other ideas for any more multimedia related forms of presentation?
