An advisor to the Speaker has suggested that Parliament's porticullis logo is seen as a gate to keep the public out and has suggested a rebranding.
What do people think of the logo? And what could a new logo look like?
...as long as it doesn't cost a whole load of taxpayer's money.
Personally I like it, but I can see where the advisor is coming from, it is a bit of an imposing logo - the power of the crown decides, the portculis slams down on all those who would oppose it.
But it also smacks of historical importance, the importance of the instiution and the strength of parliament's decision-making. Maybe it is a bit scary, but would we really want some kind of smiley sun logo nobody respects in its place?
The law once decided is powerful and this serves as a reminder...so long as parliament keeps its doors and website open then there's no harm in a powerful logo.
